Most people judge if gastric disorders are caused by consuming spicy, fatty foods and an erratic eating schedule. Even though without realizing it, it turns out that many bad habits can cause stomach disorders.

Unhealthy eating patterns, such as consuming too many processed foods, junk food, foods high in sugar, salt, and others, in addition, the habit of overeating can unknowingly be a trigger for stomach disorders.

Here are some bad habits that can unknowingly cause stomach disorders.

Lying down after eating

After eating a lot, we will usually feel very sleepy. In addition, drowsiness sometimes comes after we consume certain foods, such as simple carbohydrates, fatty fish, fatty meats, cherries, almonds, and others.

We should ignore it or do other activities that can speed up metabolism if it comes to us. The reason is, sleeping after eating can cause the food that we have consumed to leak with stomach acid through the esophageal sphincter into the esophagus.

This condition causes the sensation of heartburn, one of the GERD symptoms, also applies when we lie down or after eating (even if we are not sleeping).

Not Enough Drinking Water

After eating, we are advised to drink 1-2 glasses of water. In addition, when we are thirsty, we are advised to drink immediately. Its functions are many. In addition to balancing the temperature and preventing dehydration, it turns out that drinking also serves to keep the stomach healthy.

The stomach needs the help of water, so that stomach acid production runs optimally to digest the food. When there is a lack of water, the stomach will automatically work harder to digest the food. If done in the long term, this habit can be the cause of gastric disorders.

Not drinking enough water can hamper the digestive process in the intestines and cause many health problems, including constipation and gastritis.

Immediately Exercise After Eating

we are advised to eat before exercising. Many benefits can obtain from this habit, ranging from providing energy during activities, maximizing the calorie-burning process, reducing the risk of dropping blood sugar or hypoglycemia, and others.

However, do not just eat. In addition to paying attention to the food we eat, we also have to put a distance between eating and exercising. Experts recommend that we allow our body for 2-3 hours to digest food before exercising.

Exercising immediately after eating can cause many harmful effects, ranging from nausea to vomiting to causing stomach disorders.

Lack of sleep

Lack of sleep is closely related to several stomach problems, including gastroesophageal reflux, functional dyspepsia, and irritable bowel syndrome. This condition is closely related to an unhealthy digestive system.

As we all know, bad sleep habits cause a terrible impact on the gut microbiome, leading to digestive problems, including some of the gastric problems mentioned above, and health problems in general.

Lack of sleep will make us easily stressed. If not managed properly, stress causes many harmful effects on physical health, including being the cause of stomach disorders.
